    Two questions - who uses film nowadays and where would you develop it? All our local photo developing joints are, well, nonexistant (the drugstore I would NORMALLY go to get prints done just switched to full-on digital only through a crappy kiosk).

    @dragon: ONE: There are some compelling reasons to use film, one of which is completely absent in this case (quality/price ratio is thrown off here). You can get an excellent 35mm camera for just a few dollars (I paid $2 for a Yashica T4 once), and not have to cry if it's damaged. Let a small child use it. The cheap digitals made for kids are barely worth pointing at something.

    There are still 3 different places in my small town to get 1 hour film developing, and a half dozen others who offer 2 day service. I still shoot loads of film despite having excellent digital cameras. Scanning takes extra time, but I can still get better results from 35mm than digital, though I admit that there's better equipment out there than mine.

    While color has gone very digital, you won't find that nearly as many B&W fans use digital. For some reason, B&W photographers still strongly prefer film. I love B&W film, and I develop it myself in my bathroom using about $30 worth of equipment. #leica

    I think what I'd want instead is a separate pocket projector that I could plug an sd card into (among other inputs) and look at the pictures that way. I think this is one of those areas that two separate devices can do better than one. What I hope this does is move the technology along to where a less expensive (<$100) pocket projecter is a possibility. #nikons100pj

    You really have to watch the video to understand the concept. This system only seems to make sense if the pairing of a particular sensor to a particular lens had an advantage but I don't see how it would. Why would each lens need its own sensor? You could end up owning 4 lenses and four sensors, an over-investment in sensors, especially considering that inevitable improvements in sensor tech makes your lens obsolete. The more I type, the worse this idea sounds. A better system would allow one to upgrade just the camera's sensor. #ricohgxr

    Interesting, but it by no means seems economical. It sounds like each component will set you back quite a bit, costing you between $900 and $1800 for the body and wide angle lens/body (pounds and Euros never seem to translate properly to dollars when crossing the Pacific, a $400 here may cost 400 pound sterling there). Coupled with the limitations of each body, I'm very hesitant about it. While it is nice to have a small, discrete camera like that with easily accessible, fully manual controls for street photography, I am extremely hesitant. #ricohgxr

    It looks like there's going to be an explosion of these types of cameras over the next year. It makes buying one feel a bit risky, because every company is in overdrive trying to outdo the camera that came out previous. Unfortunately, they all seem to compromise in one way or another. I went ahead and ordered a GH1, because it seems to be closest to what I want. I'm pretty excited to see what Ricoh can do with this though, considering their mastery (so I've heard) of ergonomics. #ricoh

    @Domo: Depends on who you're looking for. I'm sure Rosa would command a pretty healthy rate, and most anyone with a golden star under their name is gonna set you back quite a bit, so I'd guess a few minutes at most.
